FocusTax does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data. Everything happens on your device. There is no backend, no accounts, no analytics, and no tracking of any kind.
Our Apple App Store privacy nutrition label reads: "Data Not Collected."
None. Zero. We have no servers to send it to even if we wanted to.
Specifically, FocusTax does not collect:
FocusTax stores the following data locally on your iPhone. This data never leaves your device:
All local data is stored using Apple's SwiftData framework and UserDefaults within a sandboxed App Group container. You can delete all data by deleting the app.
FocusTax uses Apple's StoreKit 2 framework for consumable in-app purchases. When you confirm an accountability fee (after choosing to break a focus session), the payment is processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. FocusTax does not process, store, or have access to any payment information, including your Apple ID, credit card details, or transaction receipts.
All purchases are voluntary. You are never charged automatically. Every purchase requires explicit confirmation through Apple's native payment sheet (Face ID, Touch ID, or passcode).
FocusTax uses Apple's Screen Time APIs (FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, DeviceActivity) to block apps during focus sessions. This requires your explicit authorization using the .individual authorization type — meaning you are managing your own device.
The app selection tokens provided by Apple's FamilyActivityPicker are opaque. FocusTax cannot determine which specific apps you have selected. These tokens are stored locally and used solely to apply and remove app shields during your sessions.
You can revoke Screen Time authorization at any time in Settings > Screen Time.
FocusTax uses zero third-party services, SDKs, libraries, or frameworks. The app is built entirely with Apple-native frameworks. There are no:
FocusTax may request permission to send local notifications (session reminders and completion alerts). These are generated entirely on your device. No push notification service or server is used.
FocusTax is not directed at children under the age of 13. The app involves real monetary transactions (in-app purchases) and is intended for use by adults and older teens who can make their own purchasing decisions.
If we ever update this privacy policy, we will post the revised version on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Given that we collect no data, we don't anticipate significant changes.
